Education
Mrs.
Baker attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, now called
Emporia State University, were she received her Bachelor's Degree
in Psychology and Special Education. She received her Master's Degree
in learning disabilities from Kansas University and her counseling
certification from the University of Missouri, St. Louis.
Teaching
Experience
Mrs.
Baker taught special education and was a work study coordinator in
Kansas City, Kansas for four years. From 1978-1989, Mrs. Baker taught
in the city of St. Charles Missouri; from 1978-1989 she was a Learning
Disabilities Teacher as well as Dept. Chair for a high school. From
1989-1999, she was a middle school guidance counselor and from 1999-2001
she was a guidance counselor for public schools in the Philadelphia
area.
Other
Experience
Over
the years, Mrs. Baker has worked as a dental assistant, and has done
volunteer work as a substitute teacher for Concord Academy.
Now, she is working as a part-time guidance counselor.
School
Responsibilities
Mrs.
Baker sponsors Concord Academy's Peer Helpers, G.E.M.S., and is our
school guidance counselor. As guidance counselor, she enhances students'
success in areas of academics, behavioral adjustment, social and emotional
development, personal growth, and vocational awareness and planning.
